This is the second book in the Darkest Powers trilogy. The story continues to follow Chloe and her friends as they run from a cruel, evil group of Supernaturals. 

I loved this book just as much as I loved The Summoning. As I may have mentioned in my The Summoning review, this book is a re-read of when I first read it years ago and I still enjoyed it as much as I did back then, even though I'm much older now.

The story of this second book is intense and enjoyable as betrayals are found out, mysteries are solved while others are brought to the surface. There are fights, arguments, the beginnings of new friendships and a more understanding of the characters and their backgrounds. I thoroughly enjoyed this and was stuck to this book until I had it finished.

As mentioned above the characters grow in depth as backgrounds are revealed and as they change to adapt to their new situations. Derek is by far my favourite. I love the temperamental werewolf and  now, after getting to learn more about him, I love him more. Derek and Chloe are the two main characters that I care about. Simon is still meh, to me, although I love the fact that he is an artist and that comes very in handy in this book. Tori, is the usual, but I understand her more now, than before and I may be getting to like her a tad bit more.

I enjoyed the story immensely and the way the characters built depth. They were my favourite things about this book. I also loved all the twists and turns that developed. As for the dislikes, I can't remember any. There was anything that completely irked me, so there was no dislikes.

This ending was completely different ending to the one of The Summoning. This was not a cliffhanger, it did not end in a scene. It ended more of Chloe talking about what was happening to her emotionally. I'm not going to say anything else in case I spoil anything. I don't even know if what I just said is a spoiler. O.o I'm sorry if you think it is.

I'm going to say it again....I loved this book...I loved it just as much as the first time I read it. I would completely recommend it to everyone and definitely to people who have already read The Summoning. Enjoy this book!!!
