Top Ten Tuesday #1

Top Ten Tuesday #1

Top Ten Books I'm Not Sure I Want To Read For Various Reasons

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish and consists of them picking a topic each week for us bloggers to list our Top Ten.

Here's my list:

1. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Loads of people are reading this book and all I'm hearing is gushing review after gushing review but still, after reading the blurb, nothing attracts me to the book. I just simply don't find it interesting. And I don't think it would be the book for me. But still, I am completely unsure of this book and I have been for months!!

2. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
This is another book that I am completely unsure of. For one, I'm not much of a contemporary reader. Secondly, I've seen a lot and I mean a lot of 5 star reviews and then I've also seen the a lot of opposite with 1 star reviews and 'did not finish' statuses. So complete indecision for this one, especially when the blurb gives nothing away.

3. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
This is a book where I've seen plenty of positive reviews but it's just that the blurb doesn't capture my attention so that's why it is featuring on this list.

4. The Maze Runner by James Dashner
The movie is coming out soon!!! So maybe I'll go see if that's any good, but then I won't want to read the book. It's a real Catch 22 situation...

5. Panic by Lauren Oliver
I want to read Panic. But, I don't know if I want to read Panic. I've been seeing mixed reviews. Plenty of mixed reviews. Then the blurb doesn't entice me. But, I read Delirium by Lauren Oliver and I loved it!!! So do I read Panic or not???

6. Bzrk by Michael Grant
Why am I not jumping to the book store for Bzrk??? Because the blurb put me off. Yes, it put me off. As soon as the talk of anything nano came, I was lost.....And that was just the blurb. But I've read all the Gone series and really enjoyed it so I'm undecided about this book. Someone help me please!!!!

7. Uglies by Scott Westerfield
I was going to get this. I had it in my hand. In my hand, it was and I was walking to the counter but I stopped and I got Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo instead. Why did I stop, because I am so unsure of this book...

8. Just One Day by Gayle Forman
I loved both If I Stay and Where She Went yet I'm hesitant to pick this up. It's just that the blurb doesn't catch my interest that much, but still I liked Gayle Forman's other books so.....

9. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephenie Perkins
Hmmmm, every review I see of this is good. It's been recommended to me. It's been raved about. But I'm not a much of a contemporary reader. So should I? Shouldn't I? Will I??

10. Tiger's Quest by Collen Houck
I am currently reading Tiger's Curse and I am dreadfully regretting it. I am forcing myself through this book because I am determined not to abandon it. So because of this reaction to the first book, I don't think I'll be reading the second unless something amazing happens.

So, here is my first ever Top Ten Tuesday!!!! What do ya'll think of my choices?? And of course some advice would be appreciated :D

  1. I liked We Were Liars. It is an over-hyped book, but it really is a good story. If your not into lyrical writing I guess you would call it, I would stay away from it. I disliked Tiger's Curse A LOT, like I dnf'ed it after 4 chapters in. Loved Anna and the French kiss, If you don't like contemporary I wouldn't pick it up until your in the mood. It really is adorable!

    1. Thanks Courtney!!! I look into both We Were Liars and Anna and the French Kiss more when I get back into my contemporary phase :)
Tiger's Curse is awful!! And I really wanted it to be good :'(

    2. I agree, Courtney. I really liked We Were Liars, even though it's way over-hyped. It was a nice story, and I really liked the ending.

  2. Anna and the French Kiss is good, and I'm really only just getting into contemporary books. It's a sweet coming-of-age story, and a really easy read. I would have finished it in one night if I didn't have to force myself to sleep.

I also really liked Panic, but I am a Lauren Oliver fanatic. I liked the idea of the game that she included in it, and there are some twists and turns that left me on the edge of my seat the whole time I read it.

    1. That's great to know Erin!!! I think I might actually pick up Panic then because I did love Lauren Oliver's Delirium :)

  3. Congrats on your first Top Ten Tuesday!
So, I really enjoyed Just One Day. Yes, it was really romantic and somewhat cheesy, but with a few twists that kept you on your toes. To me, it was more than a regular contemporary. There are a ton of other themes and issues addressed in the book other than falling in love in just one day.

    1. Thanks Tessa!!!
I wasn't really too sure about that one. I'll have to look into it again soon!! :)

  4. I wasn't sure about Anna and the French Kiss either until I read Erin's review. The next day I bought it and I practically read it in one sitting. BUT if you aren't a contemporary person then yeah I understand the reservations about it. We Were Liars I read in like two hours. Yet again the way it's written will put off people. It's the only thing I didn't like about the book. I agree with Shatter Me and The Maze Runner. I just don't know if I'm going to read them. I have heard lots of good things about the Tiger series. Still iffy on it myself.

    1. I soo have to eeconsider them two then!!! :)

I know, Shatter Me and The Maze Runner are still on the fence and probably will be there for a long time...

I'm not a fan on the Tiger Saga but sure anyway :)

  5. I've got Obsidian in my TBR pile and I hope to get to it soon. I was never drawn to it because I thought the cover was cheesy. But I've heard it's good, so...

  6. I didn't like Panic but I haven't read anything else by Lauren Oliver to compare it to. I was just really disappointed by it. On the other hand We Were Liars is beautiful and I strongly recommend you give it a go!

  7. I read the Lux series and honestly it's not one of my favorites. It was good, but I mean, it didn't change my life or anything. The main character is a book blogger though, that's cool!

I love the Shatter Me series. I really liked the first book, and I absolutely loved the third one. I didn't particularly enjoy the second one. But the novellas are great too, so..

YOU HAVE TO READ ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS! Honestly. It's my favorite contemporary of all time. Really. You should read it. I mean, if you don't that's fine, but it's really, really great.
