2014 End of Year Book Survey

2014 End of Year Survey

Hey guys this is my first time ever doing this survey and the survey is created by The Perpetual Page-Turner.

So what this is all about is that you reflect on your year of reading and look ahead to the next year as well. Literally I am so excited to fill this out!!! :D

Just so everyone knows, this survey is for all the books you read in 2014 not just books that you read which were published in 2014.

Number of Books Read: 44 (13/12/14)
Number or Rereads: 0
Most Read Genre: Young Adult

1. Best Book You Read In 2014?
Such a hard question so I'm going to split it up into genres - just keep in mind they're all young adult books :P
2. Fantasy - Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas / Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
6. Science Fiction - The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
7. Dystopia - All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill
8. Horror - Messenger of Fear by Michael Grant

2. Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn't?
I was really really looking forward to reading Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck. I had bought the book last year or the year before and I was just captivated by the blurb as well as the cover but once I started the book, my excitement fell as I started to realize that I wasn't enjoying it at all. I actually hated the book and DNF it with a rating of 1 star.

3. Most Surprising (Good or Bad Way) Book You Read In 2014?
The most surprising book I would have to say would be All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill and this was a surprise in a good way. I had started the book earlier on in the year and had put it down again after a few pages, but, then I decided to read it again and found it unputdownable. The book was amazing!!!

4. Book You 'Pushed' The Most People To Read (And They Did) In 2014?
The book I pushed the most people to read was Sea of Shadows by Kelley Armstrong.

7. Best Book From A Genre You Don't Typically Read/Was Out Of Your Comfort Zone?
Hmmmmm, the genre I don't typically read is Contemporary so the best book from there that Iread in 2014 was Where She Went by Gayle Forman.

Again, not a fair question but it was either All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill, The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey or Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas.

9. Book You Read in 2014 That You Are Most Likely To Re-Read Next Year?
All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill. I remeber just finishing that book and wanting to read it straight away again so it's definitely a contender for a re-read next year :)

  4. hi!
wow, I didn't know about this survey, but it's great!! there are so many questions, you can talk about a lot of books :D
I think Throne of Glass is one of my favorite books I read this year, too.
I agree with your pick of pretty covers—especially the Days of Blood and Starlight, it's incredible how much I love this edition of the books (and I haven't even read the series yet).
I can't wait for A Court of Thorns and Roses too! And the Ruby Circle—i just know it's going to be amazing.

(by the way, I tagged you for the Gif Tag, the rules and the books are here: http://craving-books.blogspot.fr/2014/12/the-gif-tag.html feel free to only do some of them, or to not do it at all!)

    1. Hey!!!
Are you going to this?? :p If you do let me know!! :)
I'm reading The Assassin's Blade at the moment. I just love Sarah J. Maas for creating these books and I can't wait for A Court of Thorns and Roses. It's just going to be amazing!!
We have the same cover tastes!!! :D I love those editions of Daughter of Smoke and Bone and am glad that I tracked them down. I have yet to read Dreams of Gods and Monsters :p It's going to be a 2015 book though :p
Thanks for tagging me!! I'll do them all but I'll have to do it tomorrow, it's getting late now :p

    2. I think I'll do it, like, this weekend (I didn't want to do it before the very end of 2014—you never know ;))
I received the Assassin's Blade on Monday!! I think it's going to be the next book I read, because I really miss Celaena.
They're /so/ great. I almost want to buy secondhand ones just to have the pretty covers, even though I never buy secondhand books because I worry too much about germs and everything. That's how much I love the covers.
You're welcome! Great, let me know when you're done!

    4. I started it last night!!!
Yep, I did, but they only have the hardbacks, and 20€ for ONE book when I can buy, like, three paperbacks.....I can't make myself buy it

    5. I know what you mean, it's so cruel. They actually should have kept those covers!! I paid €15 each for them :/ but I got them when they each came out so at least it was spread over a few years :p

  5. I'm loving reading the answers to the survey, I've found so many great new books to add to my TBR this way. I only started the Throne of Glass series this year and I have become completely obsessed with it, the wait for the next book in the series is killing me. I really want to read All Our Yesterdays, I just received it for Christmas so I am very excited that I wil get to do that. Celaena was my most memorable character too, she's just incredible. Great answers :) I recently did the survey myself, which you can find here if you want to check it out.

  6. I really want to read All Our Yesterdays! I got a freebie of the audiobook a few months ago, but I think I'd prefer to read it; I think there's a better chance of me liking it if I read it myself. (Sometimes a bad narrator can really colour your opinion of an audiobook.)
