Best of the Bunch #2 - July 2015

Best of the Bunch #2 - July 2015

Best of the Bunch is a monthly meme hosted over at A Cocoon of Books. What it is is that you give the Best of the Bunch award to one book which you have read in that month.

For July I read 4 books, 2 of those were re-reads and 2 weren't :P From those books there are 2 going up for this award. One which was a re-read, which isn't going to get the award cause well I have read it before so the book getting the Best of the Bunch Award for July 2015 is .......

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1)

I am tired of being used, hurt, and cast aside.

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.

Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powers like they’ve never seen.

Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three will collide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. But of one thing they are all certain: Adelina has abilities that shouldn’t belong in this world. A vengeful blackness in her heart. And a desire to destroy all who dare to cross her.

It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.

Ahhh I loved Marie Lu's Legend Trilogy and then I heard she was writing a new first book in a series and at the start I didn't want to read it.... Why??? I was afraid of how this book would turn out.. I loved Legend so much that I thought if I didn't like this one it would taint my experience with this author. But anyhoo, I saw the book in a book shop and jumped on it and got it and I read it this month and it got the Best f the Bunch Award. It was such such such an amazing book. I literally cannot wait for the release of The Rose Society!! Read this book people!! Read it!!

PS, I feel my reread should get a shoutout too and that book is Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick. A brilliant horror, dystopian, zombie book. Read it guys!! :P

What was your Best of The Bunch for the month of July?? :)

  2. Glad to hear you enjoyed this! I wasn't really a fan of it since it pretty much failed to impress me and although I don't think I will continue with this trilogy I will still try and read other stuff Marie Lu publishes in the future since I loved the Legend series. And my best of the bunch for the month has to be the Amulet graphic novels, or Scarlet... or The Dream Thieves hahaha
