Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish and consists of them picking a topic each week for us bloggers to list our Top Ten.

This week I'm going to be listing my Top Ten Book for my Spring TBR. In Ireland Spring started on February 1st and it's going to be over at the end of April so I'm practically halfway through it at the minute. 3. Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
  4. The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
  5. The Forbidden Game by L.J. Smith
  6. The Infinite by Lori M. Lee
  7. Blood Red Road by Moira Young
  8. Allies and Assassins's by Justin Somper

Furry Friend Tag

Furry Friend Tag

Hey!!! So this is the Furry Friend Tag which I saw on Book Tube and well being an animal lover I couldn't just let this pass so I'mma doing this tag. I also couldn't just pick one of my pets so there is going to be all of them......

1. What is their name?
There are:
Sammi,
Bruce,
Lulu,
Toothless,
Dave,
Jasper,
Stuart.

2. What kind of pet are they?
Sammi is a Labrador Retriever - Dog
Bruce is a Springer x Collie - Dog
Lulu is a Cat (Breed Unknown - Moggie)
Toothless is a Leopard Gecko - Lizard
Dave, Jasper & Stuart are Fantail Goldfish.

3. How long have you had your pet(s)?
I have Sammi the longest, I got her on January 3rd 2012 - 3 years, 2 months.
Then there's Dave which I got on the 29th of July in 2013 - 1 year, 8 months
Then Bruce on March 29th 2014 - 1 year this month
Then I got Toothless on May 24th 2014 - 9 months
I got Lulu on July 13th 2014 - 8 months
Then I got Stuart and Jasper on March 15th 2015 - 2 days

4. How did you get them?
Sammi - I got Sammi after my Dad who had worked for a woman who had these Labrador pups by accident (the mother was booked to be neutered but then got pregnant by the male lab that they also owned) and my Chocolate Brown Labrador had passed away at the age of 15 that previous October. My Dad had asked me in December about them but then I wasn't ready. On News Years I decided it was time to get a dog and then we got Sammi and her sister Stella on January 3rd for free because the woman just wanted them gone. Unfortunately, Stella had to be put to sleep at 8 months old due to juvenile kidney failure which was a genetic disease. This broke my heart but I still had Sammi to mend that broken piece.

Dave - I got Dave and another sick fantail goldfish, Frank, in a pet shop in my local town because I hadn't had goldfish since I was little and was very bad at keeping goldfish at that time but my little brother and I went into town and picked the fish and started this journey again. Frank only died last October (Halloween Night) even though he was sick when I got him - sole reason why I got him, I couldn't just leave him dies in the pet shop without knowing a better life and I treated him and he got a bit better but still he lived for almost a year. Ad Dave is swimming around happily in his new tank with his new friends.

Bruce - I got Bruce from someone who had an accidental litter and didn't want the pups so he gave them away and I took Bruce because Sammi needed company after her sister had passed.

Toothless - I got Toothless in the same pet shop where I bought Dave and Frank and I got her because I love reptiles and I saw her there and was just amazed by her, her colour, her appearance and personality. So I researched intensely about that species and how to care for them and then I got her.

Lulu - My borther came home one day and said he wanted a cat. I was completely opposed to the idea but we took a kitten from my cousin who's cat had had a litter of 6. There were only 3 kittens alive at this point and when we got Lulu, she had ticks, she was really skinny, and full of worms. I had to dose her 3 times in a row. In the weeks that followed Lulu changed completely, becoming a much more healthy looking cat with a much bigger personality. Honestly, I don't know what I'd do without her now.

Stuart and Jasper - These two I got because Dave seemed lonely and I was after getting him a bigger tank and well my brother picked them out and now they're happily swimming around.

5. How old are they?
Sammi's birthday is October 16th and she is 3 now.
Bruce's birthday is January 26th and he is now 1.
Lulu has an unknown birthday, we think she's nearly a year old and instead we celebrate a got'cha day!!
Toothless is possibly around a year too, she gets a got'cha day too :P
I don't know how old any of my fish are to be honest only that they are older than how long  have them.

6. What are quirky things about their personality?
There are so much quirky things I'll only say one about each :P

Sammi - Sammi doesn't play fetch. If I throw a ball she runs after it and attempts to pick up the ball while running which is usually a fail and then runs back to me without the ball which I then have to go get myself.

Bruce - Bruce is a hunting, herding dog and any time I'm walking and Sammi walks beside me he will constantly wals circles around us and then lie down in front of us and wait for us to pass which means he can then start his circling, like we're sheep. It's funny because that was just a natural instinct for his collie side as he was never trained to do anything like that.

Lulu - She has so many quirky things but one thing is she will only drink from the bathroom sink. Anywhere else is a no go drinking area...

Toothless - Toothless actually gives you a death stare in the night when she's hungry and she's often chased my cat around to try and eat her.

Dave, Stuart and Jasper - All of my fish will eat from my hand, even the two new ones now and they are really relaxing to watch.

7. What are your favourite past times with your pets?
Sammi & Bruce - going through the long grass in our field.
Lulu - going walkies on her lead because the dogs won't do it :P!!!
Toothless - feeding Toothless is quite entertaining.
Dave, Stuart & Jasper - watching them.

8. Nicknames for your pets?
Sammi - Sam Sam, Sams, Sammy Wammy.
Bruce - Brucey Wousey
Lulu - Schnuckums, Lous,
Toothless - Toothless
Dave - Dave
Stuart - Stuart
Jasper - Jasper

All of my pets mean the world to me and I honestly can't think about moving and leaving them or living without them, but I've lost many pets too and they will always stay in my heart, always.

Update and Happy Saint Patricks Day!!!

Update and Happy Saint Patricks Day!!!

Hey everyone!!! I'm sorry for my absence this past week or so, I can't even remember the last day I posted but well ya I was busy with course work because I'm finished the first week of May (what!!!!) and I have to get all my assignments, projects, portfolios and study for the end tests all done before well the end. So I was busy and still am but hey I can't abandon everyone!!
This post is going to be dedicated to a general update and a Happy St. Paddy's Day because it's Paddy's Day today and I'm Irish and ya, the weather ain't good today so I'll possibly dress up in green but I won't be going to a parade. I got too much to do!! Besides tomorrow is the day I'm looking forward too!!! - It's my Birthday :D

As for my reading life it's kind of been non-existant too. I'm currently reading 4 books which are:
  • All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
  • A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin
  • The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
  • Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
  • The Forbidden Game by L.J. Smith
All the Bright PlacesA Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1)The Sky Is EverywhereFalling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms, #1)The Forbidden Game (The Forbidden Game, #1-3)

For some general news, I brought my brother to the cinema last Sunday and we went to see Big Hero 6. The movie was awesome!! Literally, absoutley awesome!! It was one my new favourite Disney movies and my brother can't wait to see it out on DVD so he can watch it all the time and I can't either. It was awesome!!!. Plus the cinema had like 15 people in it even though it can hold 100 in the showing room but hey, I love it when a cinema is empty :D Nothing beats it :P

And after that adventure, I got a new tank for my little fish Dave and I got him some new friends too!!!! :) My little brother picked out the fish and I have to say they are extremely happy now :P

Unhaul #1

Unhaul #1

I did my first ever unhaul!!!! Well, my first unhaul since I've started blogging. Anyhoo I unhauled a total of 9 books which all went to a charity shop in town and they were all practically in perfect condition too which is a bonus for whoever picks them up :)

The books I unhauled were the following:
  1. Heroic by Phil Earle - It was not a book I was interested in reading so I unhauled it.
  2. Jenny Q, Unravelled by Pauline McLynn - Same reason as above....
  3. Die For Me by Amy Plum - A book which you can the review for here. It's a book I didn't like or enjoy and knew I would never be reading again. It was time to let someone else love it.
  4. The Turning by Jennifer Armintrout - You can find this review here. Another book which I didn't enjoy and wouldn't be reading again so bye!!!
  5. Popular: A Memoir by Maya Van Wagenen - I actually really enjoyed this book. Click here for review. But I won't ever read it again really. It was one of those read once type books and I thought someone else could use it :)
  6. Tiger's Curse by Collen Houck - Another book I disliked, review here. So ya, I donated it so it could find a new home.
  7. Crash Into Me by Albert Borris - Book I didn't enjoy, review here.
  8. Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler - This is actually a book that I have read about three times now and I really did enjoy it the first time and the second time but the third time it was kind of getting old and so I just gave it away. It was actually one of my first ever reviews on goodreads, not on this blog, so well if you really want to see it go here
  9. Starters by Lissa Price - A book which really disappointed me, find my review here.
So these are all the books which are now looking for new homes and new owners to enjoy them and I hope that they do!!!

Mini Book Review - Tithe by Holly Black

Tithe

(Modern Faerie Tale #1)

Author: Holly Black

Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy, Faerie, Romance.

Published: 2008

Pages: 331 pages (Paperback Edition) (Simon & Schuster)

Read: February 2015

Rating: 1 Star

Welcome to the realm of very scary faeries!

Sixteen-year-old Kaye is a modern nomad. Fierce and independent, she travels from city to city with her mother's rock band until an ominous attack forces Kaye back to her childhood home. There, amid the industrial, blue-collar New Jersey backdrop, Kaye soon finds herself an unwilling pawn in an ancient power struggle between two rival faerie kingdoms -- a struggle that could very well mean her death.

Book 8/60 - 2015 Goodreads Reading Challenge

This is going to be a very short review because I DNF this book at page 120 (36%) so I therefore can't really give this a full review.

What I can say is why I stopped reading this book and well that was for a few reasons:
1. I did not like the protagonist. I found her to be quite unlikeable because of her personality and because of the actions she pursued in this book and the contrast to them both.
2. None of the other characters were likeable either.
3. I was quite bored with how the story was taking place and the pace at which it was going.
4. I found the writing style not to be something I enjoyed. It was quite jumpy with a lot of things not being explained.
5. This book was just not for me unfortunately.

Just as a side note: These are my thoughts on this book and that doesn't mean that the book is in anyway bad or anything like that. Just because I didn't enjoy this doesn't mean that another person won't. So by all means, give this book a chance.

2015 Releases I Can't Wait For!!! March Edition

2015 Releases I Can't Wait For!!! March Edition

I know this post is extremely late because we're like on the 9th day of March already but.... ya I wanted to do it anyhow so some of these books have already been released. I haven't got any of them yet but these are still my most anticipated March Releases of 2015.

The Memory Key by Liana Liu - March 3rd 2015
In a five-minutes-into-the-future world, a bereaved daughter must choose between losing memories of her mother to the haze of time and the reality-distorting, visceral pain of complete, perfect recall.
Lora Mint is determined not to forget.
Though her mother’s been dead for five years, Lora struggles to remember every detail about her—most importantly, the specific events that occurred the night she sped off in her car, never to return.
But in a world ravaged by Vergets disease, a viral form of Alzheimer’s, that isn’t easy. Usually Lora is aided by her memory key, a standard-issue chip embedded in her brain that preserves memories just the way a human brain would. Then a minor accident damages Lora’s key, and her memories go haywire. Suddenly Lora remembers a moment from the night of her mother’s disappearance that indicates her death was no accident. Can she trust these formerly forgotten memories? Or is her ability to remember every painful part of her past driving her slowly mad—burying the truth forever?
Lora’s longing for her lost mother and journey to patch up her broken memories is filled with authentic and poignant emotion. Her race to uncover the truth is a twisty ride. In the end, Liana Liu’s story will spark topical conversations about memory and privacy in a world that is reliant on increasingly invasive forms of technology.

Bone Gap by Laura Ruby - March 3rd 2015
Everyone knows Bone Gap is full of gaps—gaps to trip you up, gaps to slide through so you can disappear forever. So when young, beautiful Roza went missing, the people of Bone Gap weren’t surprised. After all, it wasn’t the first time that someone had slipped away and left Finn and Sean O’Sullivan on their own. Just a few years before, their mother had high-tailed it to Oregon for a brand new guy, a brand new life. That’s just how things go, the people said. Who are you going to blame?
Finn knows that’s not what happened with Roza. He knows she was kidnapped, ripped from the cornfields by a dangerous man whose face he cannot remember. But the searches turned up nothing, and no one believes him anymore. Not even Sean, who has more reason to find Roza than anyone, and every reason to blame Finn for letting her go.
As we follow the stories of Finn, Roza, and the people of Bone Gap—their melancholy pasts, their terrifying presents, their uncertain futures—acclaimed author Laura Ruby weaves a heartbreaking tale of love and loss, magic and mystery, regret and forgiveness—a story about how the face the world sees is never the sum of who we are.

The Alex Crow by Andrew Smith - March 3rd 2015
Once again blending multiple story strands that transcend time and place, Grasshopper Jungle author Andrew Smith tells the story of 15-year-old Ariel, a refugee from the Middle East who is the sole survivor of an attack on his small village. Now living with an adoptive family in Sunday, West Virginia, Ariel's story of his summer at a boys' camp for tech detox is juxtaposed against those of a schizophrenic bomber and the diaries of a failed arctic expedition from the late nineteenth century. Oh, and there’s also a depressed bionic reincarnated crow.

The Infinite by Lori M. Lee - March 10th 2015
Once again I won't put up the synopsis for this because of the fact that it is a sequel and some of you may have not read the first book :) I have read the first book, really enjoyed it and this one is waiting on my shelves to be read. Mwahahahahaha.

The Winner's Crime by Marie Rutkoski - March 12th 2015
I'm not going to post up this synopsis because well I haven't read the first book and there may well be spoilers so I don't want to read it and I don't want to know :P
It's on this list here because The Winner's Curse is on my wishlist and until I read that book, this book is also on my wishlist :)

A Conspiracy of Princes by Justin Somper - March 19th 2015
Another sequel here!!! Which means I won't post up the synopsis. I have the first book of this series in my TBR and I really can't wait to read it so therefore this book is on my wishlist.

The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma - March 24th 2015
“Ori’s dead because of what happened out behind the theater, in the tunnel made out of trees. She’s dead because she got sent to that place upstate, locked up with those monsters. And she got sent there because of me.”
The Walls Around Us is a ghostly story of suspense told in two voices—one still living and one long dead. On the outside, there’s Violet, an eighteen-year-old dancer days away from the life of her dreams when something threatens to expose the shocking truth of her achievement. On the inside, within the walls of a girls’ juvenile detention center, there’s Amber, locked up for so long she can’t imagine freedom. Tying these two worlds together is Orianna, who holds the key to unlocking all the girls’ darkest mysteries.
We hear Amber’s story and Violet’s, and through them Orianna’s, first from one angle, then from another, until gradually we begin to get the whole picture—which is not necessarily the one that either Amber or Violet wants us to see.
Nova Ren Suma tells a supernatural tale of guilt and innocence, and what happens when one is mistaken for the other.

Go skinny-dipping?
Wait...what?

Book 7/60 - 2015 Goodreads Reading Challenge

I am not a Realistic Fiction reader. I simply do not read Realistic Fiction, not really. But yet, I read this book because it intrigued me. Why?? Well first there was all those great reviews spinning around and I couldn't scroll through my goodreads or blogs or booktube without seeing 5 star reviews everywhere. Then I read the blurb, posted above, and I though hmmmmm, this sounds interesting. Then I started seeing this book in the shops and well, isn't it gorgeous!! Like that cover is just.... It makes you feel all happy and wanting ice-cream. Yup it has that summer feel to it. The book was also quite chunky which I was extremely grateful for because most realistic fiction books are quite slim. So yes, I then had the dramatic situation of craving to buy this book and being on my Project 10 Book ban but I went what the heck as all of you possibly know already.

So I read this book and was I happy about doing so?? Damn ya. This book was amazing!!! I am hoping on this hype train and driving it all around the world because I loved this book (and that is coming from someone who does not read Realistic Fiction as stated above). Most of the books that I have read from this genre I simply get bored with, like its everyday life and problems being put out in front of you and itr just gets boring but not one time was I bored with this book. I actually dreaded coming to the end because I wanted it to keep going.

Morgan Matson has a fabulous writing style. There is just something there that wanted me to drop down on my knees before her and praise her for the way she writes. This is actually the first book which I've read from Morgan Matson and you can be sure that I will be reading other books from her especially with her new book coming out next year. I'll be watching you book!!! But yes, her writing style is fabulous and so interesting that I just loved reading this book.

The characters were brought to life in front me, practically. I felt so much for Emily, for Sloane, for Frank, for all of time. I was literally so attached to these characters I was getting so involved in the situations they were going through. For those of you who have read the book, you know damn well what I was feeling and what I wanted to happen with a certain few.

The plot line behind the story was perfect. It was just so good. Like I have never read anything like this before, and I've never heard the concept either but honestly, I don't think anyone could have done it better than Morgan Matson. There were so many hidden little messages in this book that I loved. The lists, the friendship, everything in this book was just perfect.

And I know I am gushing everyone, but I have a right to. So go ahead and read this book so you can gush with me, or if you have read this book, why aren't you gushing with me yet???

For anyone who would like to purchase this book follow the link :)
