Best of the Bunch #5 - October 2015

Best of the Bunch #5 - October 2015

Best of the Bunch is a monthly meme hosted over at A Cocoon of Books. What it is is that you give the Best of the Bunch award to one book which you have read in that month.

I only some really amazing books did month! I mean, super amazing. I read a total of 7 books and 4 of them I rated 5 Stars, those four were:
- The Tailor by Leigh Bardugo (Short Novella)
- The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich (Halloween Read)
- Asking For It by Louise O' Neill (Issue Book)
- Unbecoming by Jenny Downham (Just Beautiful!)

So it is actually really hard to choose, especially from the last three listed there. But I'm going to go for the Halloween Read, seeing an all it was October!

The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich

The Dead House

Part-psychological thriller, part-urban legend, this is an unsettling narrative made up of diary entries, interview transcripts, film footage transcripts and medical notes. Twenty-five years ago, Elmbridge High burned down. Three people were killed and one pupil, Carly Johnson, disappeared. Now a diary has been found in the ruins of the school. The diary belongs to Kaitlyn Johnson, Carly’s identical twin sister. But Carly didn’t have a twin . . .

Re-opened police records, psychiatric reports, transcripts of video footage and fragments of diary reveal a web of deceit and intrigue, violence and murder, raising a whole lot more questions than it answers.

Who was Kaitlyn and why did she only appear at night? Did she really exist or was she a figment of a disturbed mind? What were the illicit rituals taking place at the school? And just what did happen at Elmbridge in the events leading up to ‘the Johnson Incident’?

Such a haunting read for Halloween. I loved it! It even kept me up at night, it was just so good! Anyway if you want to know more of my thoughts on this book, check out my review here!

What was your Best of The Bunch for the month of October?? :)
