2014 End of Year Book Survey

2014 End of Year Survey

Hey guys this is my first time ever doing this survey and the survey is created by The Perpetual Page-Turner.

So what this is all about is that you reflect on your year of reading and look ahead to the next year as well. Literally I am so excited to fill this out!!! :D

Just so everyone knows, this survey is for all the books you read in 2014 not just books that you read which were published in 2014.

Number of Books Read: 44 (13/12/14)
Number or Rereads: 0
Most Read Genre: Young Adult

1. Best Book You Read In 2014?
Such a hard question so I'm going to split it up into genres - just keep in mind they're all young adult books :P

2. Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn't?
I was really really looking forward to reading Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck. I had bought the book last year or the year before and I was just captivated by the blurb as well as the cover but once I started the book, my excitement fell as I started to realize that I wasn't enjoying it at all. I actually hated the book and DNF it with a rating of 1 star.

3. Most Surprising (Good or Bad Way) Book You Read In 2014?
The most surprising book I would have to say would be All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill and this was a surprise in a good way. I had started the book earlier on in the year and had put it down again after a few pages, but, then I decided to read it again and found it unputdownable. The book was amazing!!!

I haven't read any.....

  1. City of Heavenly Fire and Champion were such great conclusions. Both ending broke my heart a little bit but I'm used to it by now hahaha
You went to London for City of Heavenly Fire? I'm so jealous! Also, you need to read Game of Thrones. Those books are the best!

    1. Ya :p I was shattered after finishinh those two series :'( I think we're shattered after finishing every series :p
I did!!! It was so good!! London is so different compared to what I'm used to. The building were huge!! And there were loads of squirrels. Squirrels!!!!
I know, It's stabbing me in the back every time I turn around because I haven't read it yet :p But I will...soon. :)

  2. I'll be having a hard time doing this as well, I just finished Gathering Darkness by Morgan Rhodes, and now I'll have to try and choose between that book and Heir of Fire for Favorite fantasy book. I dont know if I can do it. Ծ_Ծ

    1. It was sooo hard. I'm going to be taking notes for next years one :p
Hahaha I want to read Falling Kingdoms so bad but I haven't gotten it yet :p And I still have to read Crown of Midnight too because I'm getting it for xmas :)

    2. Good luck with your choice though!!!

  3. I had no idea this thing existed, but now I can't wait to do it! I loved the 5th Wave, too. I'm actually rereading it right now.

    1. I only found out about it a few weeks ago!! Ahhh the 5th Wave!!! :D

  4. hi!
wow, I didn't know about this survey, but it's great!! there are so many questions, you can talk about a lot of books :D
I think Throne of Glass is one of my favorite books I read this year, too.
I agree with your pick of pretty covers—especially the Days of Blood and Starlight, it's incredible how much I love this edition of the books (and I haven't even read the series yet).
I can't wait for A Court of Thorns and Roses too! And the Ruby Circle—i just know it's going to be amazing.

(by the way, I tagged you for the Gif Tag, the rules and the books are here: feel free to only do some of them, or to not do it at all!)

    1. Hey!!!
Are you going to this?? :p If you do let me know!! :)
I'm reading The Assassin's Blade at the moment. I just love Sarah J. Maas for creating these books and I can't wait for A Court of Thorns and Roses. It's just going to be amazing!!
We have the same cover tastes!!! :D I love those editions of Daughter of Smoke and Bone and am glad that I tracked them down. I have yet to read Dreams of Gods and Monsters :p It's going to be a 2015 book though :p
Thanks for tagging me!! I'll do them all but I'll have to do it tomorrow, it's getting late now :p

    2. I think I'll do it, like, this weekend (I didn't want to do it before the very end of 2014—you never know ;))
I received the Assassin's Blade on Monday!! I think it's going to be the next book I read, because I really miss Celaena.
They're /so/ great. I almost want to buy secondhand ones just to have the pretty covers, even though I never buy secondhand books because I worry too much about germs and everything. That's how much I love the covers.
You're welcome! Great, let me know when you're done!

    3. Oh ya I get it :P Oh My God!!! Read it!!!! Absolutely amazing book....
Did you try the Book Depository, those editions are expensive though :/
      I will.....still have to do them :P

    4. I started it last night!!!
Yep, I did, but they only have the hardbacks, and 20€ for ONE book when I can buy, like, three paperbacks.....I can't make myself buy it

    5. I know what you mean, it's so cruel. They actually should have kept those covers!! I paid €15 each for them :/ but I got them when they each came out so at least it was spread over a few years :p

  5. I'm loving reading the answers to the survey, I've found so many great new books to add to my TBR this way. I only started the Throne of Glass series this year and I have become completely obsessed with it, the wait for the next book in the series is killing me. I really want to read All Our Yesterdays, I just received it for Christmas so I am very excited that I wil get to do that. Celaena was my most memorable character too, she's just incredible. Great answers :) I recently did the survey myself, which you can find here if you want to check it out.

    1. I live doing it too, just to discover new books!!! :D I just got Crown of Midnight for Christmas and am going to be reading it at the start of next year.
I loved All Our Yesterdays!! I hope you enjoy it!! You must tell me what you think of it :)
Thank you!! Yay!! I'm going to take a look at yours now :)

  6. I really want to read All Our Yesterdays! I got a freebie of the audiobook a few months ago, but I think I'd prefer to read it; I think there's a better chance of me liking it if I read it myself. (Sometimes a bad narrator can really colour your opinion of an audiobook.)

    1. You should definitely read it!! I know, it can completely ruin a really good book :(
