Across Blogs

Hello everyone,

Here I am going to introduce you to a new feature on my blog, named thankfully by Jayne over at Booking Awesome 'Across Blogs'.

In this feature I and another blogger will read a book together and together we will discuss the book in immense detail on both of our blogs.

The blogger I am reading with next month (November) is the wonderful Jayne.

Jayne and I are going to be reading the complete Hunger Games Trilogy!!

Week 1 - We will read The Hunger Games

Week 2 - We will read Catching Fire

Week 3 - We will read Mockingjay

Week 4 - We will discuss the series book by book and then as a whole, picking different topic areas we want to look at in detail.

Hopefully, you we all enjoy this as much as Jayne and I will enjoy creating this feature.

'It's The End of 2014' Read-A-Thon

Hey guys!! I was thinking of hosting a read-a-thon for the end of the year just to get those last few books read that you wanted to read or even to get your book pressies read.

Anyway I was planning on having the read-a-thon from December 20th to December 31st.

For the read-a-thon, there will be no genres in which you have to read meaning you don't have to read wintery or Christmas books. Each day there will be a different game or puzzle or something.

So ya, what this post is about is really how many of you guys would be interested in participating and would any of you like to help me host this read-a-thon too. I'll be looking for 2 - 3 bloggers help :)

****Off the point, but I might as well put it here. I saw this on another book blog and thought it was an amazing idea and would actually love to do it. I'll post the blog name here when I can remember it O.o Anyway what it is is that you join with another book blogger to read a book and discuss it spreading the discussion between both blogs, so if anyone is interested comment below!!!******

1. Besides reading, what other hobbies do you have?

Well, my hobbies include.......reading, nah, I'm joking, I read the question :P I enjoy nature and wildlife photography so so much as well as drawing in pencil. Those two things would be my main hobbies after reading. I suppose you could throw in blogging when I have the time :P

2. If you could travel through time, which period of time would you go?

I love those old historic times where there are lots of balls and dresses and scandals, so I guess I would go to that time.

3. The meaning behind your blog name?

You know, this question should have a meaningful answer and all I can say is that that was the first thing I could think of. I'm very crappy with giving things names and well, if I dwell on it for too long, I get highly frustrated so it was the first thing that came to mind and I stayed with it.

4. When do you normally read? At night or whenever you have free time?

Whenever I get the time really. On college days some bit in the morning while I'm waiting for it to start and then at night when I get everything done. During the weekend, any time really.

5. If you find yourself in a zombie apocalypse, which 5 fictional characters would you like to have on your side to help you fight off the zombies?

6. Do you listen to music while reading?

No, that would be highly distracting. I'm actually finding lately that I don't listen to music that much any more and when I do want to listen to a song, I daydream, missing the whole, have to put it on again and the same thing happens again!!

7. Favourite book of your least favourite genre? (does this make sense? I hope so)

What's my least favourite genre?????? I love fantasy and historic fiction and dystopia and all them genres so I'd have to say my least favourite genre is Contemporary. My favourite book from Contemporary genre is The Fault In Our Stars because well I haven't read that many books in this genre O.o I have a few on my wishlist now though and I really want to read Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson and Falling Into Place by Amy Zhang and oh oh I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson.

8. Book that left you feeling like an emotional wreck?

That is an easy question and it was Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. I've never been so heart-broken!!! I literally felt a pain in my chest when I finished that book and for two whole days I was in a complete book hangover. That had never happened to me and I have yet to see it happen again.

9. Do you hate a book everybody seems to love or the other way around?

I really, really, really hated Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck. I couldn't even finish the book....A lot of people seemed to like it though. Another one is Beautiful Creatures. I read that the whole way through but it was so hard to get through.....

10. Would you rather have a book with a closed ending or one with a little cliffhanger that would imply the possibility of another book?

That depends....If I know there is another book already in the making, or if I have the second book, I love cliffhangers, they just drive you towards the next book. If it's a book where there's no mention of a sequel, I would definitely prefer a closed ending.

Read-A-Lot-A-Thon

Hey guys!!!! This read-a-thon was created by Jayne at BookingAwesome. This read-a-thon started yesterday the 14th of October and goes till next Tuesday, the 21st. What you have to do is read as much as possible in the week.

So I am definitely participating because well I need to read more!! Yesterday was a bit of a disaster with me only reading about 5 pages but I hope to improve as I go along....I better damn improve...

My TBR:

I have chosen 3 books for this read-a-thon. This is quite a realistic goal but hey, I may or may not read them all. Anyway the three books I've chosen are:

Michael Grant Event

Yesterday I was at the Messenger of Fear event by Michael Grant. This was a two hour event where Michael Grant talked about his new upcoming book and of course there was a Q&A. This was amazing!! Literally, Mr Grant did an excellent speech. He started out by showing the trailer and well lets just say the electronics weren't behaving themselves, which was quite funny, but worked out perfect in the end.

**Trailer Discussion** - Wow!! I never really watch book trailers well cause honestly, they aren't the best really, but the trailer for Messenger of Fear was amazing. I was completely intrigued and it left me wanting to read the book even more!! It was, I have to say, the best book trailer I've seen so far.

**Messenger of Fear** - Every word that Michael Grant was saying about the book had me just wanting to pick it up there and then. He had me intrigued, chilled, excited, scared all at once. I just really need to read the book and you all really need to read it too.

Q&A really answered some questions that I really wanted to know about Michael Grant, like how he got into writing, he's writing techniques, he's inspirations and much more. I loved how he isn't a planner and that he makes up the story as he goes along because I agree completely with that way of writing. It's the way I do it too.

After the Q&A it was signing time!! Me being me I brought all the books I had of Michael Grants. There they are below, all 7 of them.

Of course I didn't know if he would have the time to sign them all but I was said what the heck and I asked and he said of course, he'd sign all the books I had, so I did a happy dance and started handing them out with the help of my dad, who so kindly drove me over 150 kilometres to get to the event and for mam who let me go on her birthday. Anyway I got all my books signed!!!!! Here's some of what he wrote on them.

Ahhhhh!!!! I was so happy when I saw all of this!!!! Especially the phrase on Light because of the whole fangirl story speech which included Stephen King and it was just like ahhhhh!!!!

So ya, after that it was picture time and I was just so so over the moon!!!

And that concluded that amazing experience of meeting Michael Grant and of course thanks to Easons for giving me the opportunity to be able to win tickets to go to the event!!

June and Day have sacrificed so much for the people of the Republic - and each other - and now their country is on the brink of a new peaceful existence. June is back in the good graces of the Republic, working within the government's elite circles while Day has been assigned a high level military position.

There isn't much I can say about this book that wouldn't spoil the two previous books, Legend and Prodigy. What I can say is that I loved this book and enjoyed it so so much.

I enjoyed this so much that I was saddened to see the end but I was also very satisfied with the ending. It was just so.....I can't say anything!!!! I will ruin it is I say something. Ok, I will just say it was different to all the other endings I've read so far and that made me love it all that more.

So, ya these reviews of sequels and series books is so hard because you can't say what you want without spoilers. Just take my word for it, Champion is an amazing ending to an amazing, unique series and you're just going to have to read it...
