April 2015

April 2015 Book Haul / Wrap Up / May TBR

April is over, well it was over a while ago during my hiatus hence why this post is late because I was on a hiatus for my exams and now they are over and who knows what is going to happen next year. Anyway onto the books.....

April 2015 Book Haul

I got 4 books this month... I know I'm terrible but I just had too. On the bright side I mentioned that after my exams I was going to go on a book buying spree but I've decided against that and instead decided to really tackle my tbr. But the four books that I got during the month of April were ....

  • Insurgent by Veronica Roth
  • The Sin Eater's Daughter by Melinda Salisbury
  • We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach
  • The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton

April 2015 Wrap Up

And so forth is my recap of the month of April:

What Was Read:

  • The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
  • We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach
  • A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

  1. I can't wait to see what you thought of We All Looked Up. I've just read the first part (as in, the first 45 pages) and so far I think it's pretty weak. The opening has just been endless exposition about the characters and it's been full of so many clichés. It also contained the line "Oreo me, dawg" which is a literal crime against humanity. I really hope it gets better. Wallach's writing style is pretty easy to read though so if he stops all the endless exposition it might get good. We shall see.

    1. I found it quite interesting to be honest :) I liked the way he used the whole labelling technique cause seriously people might be all about how they hate labelling and are never going to do but only the minority follow that true cause I've been labelled my whole life. It doesn't bother me but still.
It's the breaking the labels point of the book that really interested me. Ya, the writing could have been better but I felt that he was portraying the characters as they were. Ya know, like if you're going write a book about an Irish person I expect them to sound like an Irish person, cursing and all :p The same with an historical fiction.
I'm not going to say any more incase I spoil anything but I hope you enjoy the rest. :)

  2. I have The Luminaries looking at me from the top of my bookshelves and it's whispering "read me... read me.." but I find the book so so intimidating hahahahaha
